Peithra Terms of Service
The rules for using Peithra, a free, early-stage platform for 1-on-1 debates — what you can do, what we can do, and what you should know.
Last updated: [effective date]
1. About these Terms
Peithra (the product is also called Veritas) is a free, browser-based platform for structured 1-on-1 debates. You sign in, you can enter matchmaking, you get paired with another user, you receive a topic, and you debate in a private room using text chat and real-time voice.
By using Peithra you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Peithra is free: there are no payments and no ads.
These Terms cover how you use the service. For how we handle your data, please also read our Privacy Policy.
2. Who can use Peithra (eligibility)
Peithra is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the service if you are under 13.
To use Peithra you sign in with a Google account, so you need a valid Google account you are allowed to use.
3. Your account
Sign-in is only through Google (Google OAuth). There is no password for you to manage.
When you sign in, we receive and store your name, email address, and profile image from your Google account. You can also choose an optional username (a display handle).
Because you get into Peithra through your Google account, you are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
4. Acceptable use
Debate is meant to be challenging but respectful. When you use Peithra, please follow these rules:
- Do not harass, threaten, or abuse other people.
- Do not post hateful, illegal, or otherwise harmful content.
- Do not share content you do not have the right to share.
- Do not impersonate others or misuse another person's account.
- Do not try to cheat, manipulate, or game the rating system.
- Do not try to break, overload, hack, or interfere with the service.
- Do not record other people's voices. The only recording allowed is the optional self-recording feature described below.
5. Your content and the license you give us
"Your content" means the things you create on Peithra, such as the text-chat messages you send in a debate room and your optional username.
You keep ownership of your content. By posting it, you give us permission to store, display, and share it as needed to run the service — for example, showing your chat messages to the other person in your debate room, and showing your display name and rating to people you debate.
You are responsible for the content you post and must have the right to post it.
What is visible to others: your display name and rating are visible to people you debate; your text-chat messages are visible to others in the same room; and your live voice is heard by the other participant(s) in the room.
6. Voice and recording
Voice in a debate room is real-time and peer-to-peer (WebRTC) between the debaters. By default, it is not recorded or saved. The other person in your room hears you live, but nothing is stored.
There is an optional voice-recording feature that is off by default. It is available only if a site operator turns it on. When it is on, a debater can record only their own microphone, and only with a visible recording indicator and a consent notice. If you record yourself this way, that recording is stored on our own server.
Automated AI judging, AI argument summaries, and speech-to-text transcription are not part of normal use. They are off by default and only run if a site operator manually turns them on. In the default product, no debate content is sent to any third-party AI or transcription service. If these features are ever enabled, speech-to-text may use Deepgram and AI features may use Anthropic (Claude) as third-party processors.
7. Ratings, moderation, and suspension
Peithra keeps profile and gameplay stats for you, including your role, an ELO skill rating, your wins/losses/draws, and your total number of debates. We also keep records of competitive matches you take part in.
We may moderate the service to keep it safe and fair. If you break these Terms, we may warn you, limit your access, suspend your account, or remove your account.
Because Peithra is in early development, ratings and stats may change as the system evolves.
8. Beta, "as is," and limitation of liability
Peithra is in early development (beta). Features may change, break, or disappear, and the service may be unavailable at times.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or fit for any particular purpose.
To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Since Peithra is free, our total liability to you is limited as far as the law allows.
9. Your choices and account deletion
You can request access to or deletion of your account and data by contacting us at [contact email].
If your account is deleted, your profile is removed. Some debate records and messages you sent may be kept in de-identified form (no longer linked to your account) so debate history stays intact.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Peithra grows and changes. When we do, we will update the effective date below. If you keep using Peithra after a change, that means you accept the updated Terms.
